Preferred provider organization (PPO)

In a PPO you can go to any doctor, specialist or other health care providers of your choice, but you will pay more if your doctor does not participate in your health plan’s network. You don’t have to choose a primary care physician (PCP). Referrals are not required to access specialty care, which allows you more flexibility. Alert: To save the most, stay in network. Seeing out-of-network providers will lead to higher out-of-pocket costs.
